He is an Associate Judge of the District Court of Maryland in Prince George's County, Maryland, appointed to the bench in September 2014. Prior to being appointed he was a solo practitioner serving as a criminal defense attorney and civil attorney. He previously was an Assistant State's Attorney and an Assistant Public Defender here in Prince George's County. Judge Aarons has a B.A in political science from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a law degree from Howard University School of Law. He serves as Coordinating Judge for the Adult Recovery Court and serves on the Mental Health Court, both designed to offer alternatives to incarceration for the respective participants in need of substance and mental health assistance. He currently serves on the Trustee Board of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.
